Lake District

The largest of England’s national parks, the Lake District is a whole world for you to discover. Step back in time at the variety of Roman remains or channel your inner pagan and marvel at the ancient stone circles peppering the park. Catch Peter Rabbit at Hill Top, Beatrix Potter’s farmhouse home or meet new animals at Lake District Wildlife Park.

If you want to get your steps in, the park has a plethora of walking routes ranging from challenging hikes, bike tracks and leisurely paths. Additionally, if you like to learn as you go try one of the park’s audio walking trails.

Cockermouth

A short drive away lies Cockermouth, a Georgian market town on the edge of the Lakes. For the wordsmiths among us, make sure to visit Wordsworth House and Garden – the childhood home of poet William Wordsworth! Cockermouth also serves as a perfect starting point for some gorgeous Northern Lakes walks. Getting peckish after all that walking? Wine and dine at 41 Market Place, a contemporary restaurant serving locally sourced produce and regular seasonal changes.

If you’re G+T tickled your tastebuds, continue the experience at The Lakes Distillery. Home of the ‘World’s Best Single Malt 2022’, The Lakes Distillery serves up a carefully crafted range of whiskey and gins.
